rails-to-trails are where-its-at

Rails-to-Trails are former rail lines that have been converted over the years into trails for bikers, hikers, cross-country skiers, line-dancers etc.

Why Rails-to-Trails are so awesome:

  1. They are relatively flat – trains run best on little to no elevation, so their leftover trails tend to be very easy rides.
  2. They are Nature-y – trees are pretty, admit it.
  3. No cars.
  4. History! everywhere! Often you’ll find those wonderous museum-style placards along the trail with historical facts about the rail system that used to be there.
  5. They are everywhere.  Believe it or not, trains were kind of a big deal back in the day.  You can find a rail-to-train path pretty much anywhere. There’s even a conservancy with maps and such.

Part of my plan for this site is to review the trails I’ve been on. so more on this later, I hope.

Queen is my spirit-band

freddy_mercuryI’m 100% confident that if I secluded myself in a desert cave for a few weeks, I would eventually see Freddie Mercury.

Anyhow, thank you to Queen for providing the musical anthem to my recent bike-riding rebirth.

Fat-bottom girls will be riding today, indeed.
